Biodiversity Stations and Biospots

Biodiversity Stations are short natural walks signed by nine information panels that show to visitors conspicuous and common species recorded in the footpath, mainly plants and insects. Biospots are sites rich in biodiversity, signaled with a panel showing to the public the local emblematic species. It is asked for visitors to “RISHARE” biodiversity: Register with photographs, Identify species and Share the observations on the platform www.biodiversity4all.org. The project has been developed since 2010, raising public awareness on biodiversity and especially engaging visitors on insect’s identification and monitoring. The Biodiversity Stations and Biospots Network has been constantly growing achieving today a total of 45 sites distributed all over the country. Our preliminary results on network’s diversity count for more than 2000 species, more than 1000 insects and about 30% of Portuguese flora diversity. For more information visit the website www.ebio.pt.
